Ethics in Action: A New Model of Rescue

We’re not here to replicate old systems. We’re here to raise the standard.

That means:

  • Saying no to overcrowding and overpromising

  • Being transparent about our capacity and finances

  • Prioritising the wellbeing of both animals and the people who care for them

  • Building solid infrastructure before scaling operations

  • Partnering only with trusted, ethical organisations.

Our sustainable, slow-growth, and strategy-driven model is designed to support long-term outcomes, not short-term optics.

Building Strong Foundations for Long-Term Impact

TACC Rescue was formed in direct response to a request for assistance from carers within another rescue organisation, and we didn’t have the luxury of time—we were thrown into crisis mode alongside dozens of vulnerable cats, distressed carers, and an overwhelmed community.

But what we did next was deliberate.

Rather than operate in chaos, we immediately began building structure around the storm. In the days that followed, we prioritised both animal welfare and organisational clarity—creating intake protocols, coordinating with experienced carers, securing foster placements, and documenting every case.

Now, we’re transforming emergency action into operational momentum.

Our early work has been guided by a clear focus:

  • Establishing transparent systems for rescue, vetting, foster management, and adoption

  • Documenting all processes and costs from day one

  • Using digital tools to track animal care and donor contributions

  • Laying the groundwork for NFP registration and future compliance

We didn’t start with a long runway—we started mid-air!

But we’ve landed with intention, and we’re building something strong enough to last.

From Rescue to Reform: The Bigger Picture

We believe rescue is more than just saving lives—it’s about changing the conditions that made rescue necessary in the first place.

That’s why we also focus on:

  • Education and advocacy

  • Improving foster carer support

  • Promoting desexing, responsible ownership, and mental health awareness in animal care

  • Participating in sector-wide discussions about ethics and oversight

Our ultimate goal? A future where animals are not just rescued—but rarely need rescuing at all.
